This role will work with Hall Cliffe Secondary School, Wakefield.

Witherslack Group is a nationwide network of sector-leading schools, Learning Centres and children’s homes. We provide specialist education and care for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. Our cohort of children and young people are neurodiverse; many have experienced developmental trauma, are part of the Autistic population, and have attention regulation conditions. Each educational setting has a dedicated Pastoral Team as well as a multidisciplinary team of health and care professionals, who work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to meet the needs of our pupils. This enables us to develop a holistic, unique approach to each child’s development. Many of our settings have established trauma-informed, ADHD Friendly and National Autistic Society accredited approaches to education and care. As we expand, new settings establish this approach through our network of training and supervision. The Clinical Service team across Witherslack Group includes Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical and Educational Psychologists, and a broad range of Therapists with expertise in Counselling, and Drama, Art and Psychotherapy.

The role

As part of our excellent Clinical Services team, you’ll work in an inspirational setting among friendly, dedicated professionals, helping vulnerable young people to develop their communication skills. After assessing each child, you’ll provide expert therapy, tailoring your plans and approach to each pupil’s conditions. You’ll be responsible for your own caseload and will be given the opportunity to work in partnership with the settings covered. It’s a chance to watch each child’s long-term progression and to truly see how your support can change someone’s future. Something that is hugely rewarding. You’ll provide regular feedback on the progress you are making, keeping everyone informed. It’s also important that you can create bespoke plans and use our expert monitoring tools to help you write clear reports that show just how much you and we’ve achieved. These are key for helping us keep the local authority informed of our work.

We expect resilience, high standards and ongoing teamwork. You will be part of a multi-professional team with a key role in this. It’s all about creating the best outcomes for a challenging set of children. In return, you’ll get expert supervision, a strong support network and paid school holidays. You’ll be expected to travel to meetings as part of the role.

Your profile

Degree-qualified and HCPC-registered, you’ve got extensive experience working with children with SEMH needs. In addition, you will have knowledge of Autism and ADHD and how to create suitable plans and assessments. Your expertise should come with good organisational skills and plenty of initiative: you work as well independently as you do within a team.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence. Our aspirational homes, schools and ethos help us achieve the best possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, paid full school holidays, contributory pension (matched up to 5%), life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and cycle to work scheme.

For an informal discussion about the role please call Naoimh Todd – Head of Applied Therapies on 07393 464252.

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
