The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea are due to open their first, purpose-built, Special School for children and young people with autism and Severe Learning Difficulties. The new 80-Place Special Free School is to be established in partnership with a newly formed Multi-Academy Trust, QCEST. Together we are keen to build an enthusiastic, inspired, and energetic team to deliver outstanding practice in all areas.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic candidate to become part of the Speech and Language Therapy Team, joining our multi-disciplinary therapy team across the Multi-Academy Trust, QCEST, in September 2021.

1. Band 5/6: Full time – permanent contact – term time only.
Salary: Band 5/6 equivalent - dependent on experience

• Registration with HCPC and RCSLT.
• Recognised professional qualification, e.g., University Diploma, BSc or MSc in relevant profession, plus evidence of further professional development.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation pertaining specifically to education provision.
• Ability to autonomously manage a complex clinical caseload.
• Ability to provide clear and comprehensive written information to contribute to the EHCP process.
• Ability to adapt practice to meet individual pupils needs

• At least two years post qualification experience working within paediatric therapies/school settings.
• Experience providing training to therapists, teaching staff, pupils, other professional, parents and carers.
• An interest in current autism research and practice.
• Knowledge and experience of safeguarding issues.
• Postgraduate diploma/masters level expertise in the specialist field of autism or education.
• Knowledge and experience of using a range of Autism specific approaches, e.g. PECS, TEACCH, Attention Autism, and the SCERTS framework.
• Knowledge and experience of providing evidence for family’s access to benefits, housing and other essential services.
• Ability to communicate with local services and professionals to gather relevant information and refer families and pupils to essential services.
