Your Healthcare’s CSLT service consists of Speech and Language Therapists, equating to a WTE of 21, and Assistants based together at Hollyfield House. Our service covers children and young people up to age 19 in all settings across the Royal Borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames, e.g., nurseries, playgroups, mainstream and specialist schools, health centres, a Child Development Centre and homes.

Our team puts the children and families at the centre of everything we offer, where you make the clinical decision as to what is required and deliver quality, evidence based SLT. We have strong relationships with our Commissioners and partnership organisations such as education, health and social care. You would be working as part of a well-established dynamic team and would therefore gain invaluable knowledge, skills and experience.

We have an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to work for 5 days a week within the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team. This post currently comprises of 2 roles.

2 days per week in a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) within Knollmead School (a local mainstream school) for children in Nursery, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, who have Autism and severe learning difficulties. The postholder will be working collaboratively with our educational colleagues within the SRP and parents to support therapy delivery and provide training as required. Relationships and programmes of therapy are well established. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new and innovative ways of working and further develop your clinical skills. You will be supported by a Band 7 SLT who works within a local Special School supporting pupils with a similar profile to the pupils in Knollmead SRP.

3 days per week providing support to pre-school children and families and pupils at SEN support or with EHCP’s, working in the community across age ranges to suit your preference. The postholder will carry out: assessments, planning and delivering therapy programmes, giving support and advice to children and young people, their parents and education staff as well as working closely with our Multidisciplinary Team colleagues.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Therapist who enjoys working as part of a team, has experience of working with children and young people with Autism in particular, but also a range of special needs. You will be required to have experience of working collaboratively with school staff, parents and other MDT colleagues.

Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, AAC, Attention Autism and Intensive Interaction is essential.

You will be working in a friendly and supportive working environment, and will be able to access training and development opportunities. You will receive regular supervision and peer support and contribute to the direction and development of the whole service. We are committed to CPD.
