Salary: £28,223.78 to £30,670.90 per annum

Hours: 37 per week, Term time only + 10 holiday working days (47.2 weeks per year)

Fixed Term Contract: One year

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an established and successful speech and language therapy service, in a role which provides great variety and opportunities for creative working on the beautiful Isle of Wight. The Schools Speech and Language Support Team adopts a highly collaborative and responsive approach to our work in schools, which enables us to offer a unique and effective service which is valued by our education settings.

From our recent (November 2019) Joint Local Areas SEND Inspection, inspectors found the following:

"A good speech and language therapy service is offered on the island. The service is provided jointly by the NHS and local authority. A strong core offer is available to all schools that includes training to enable staff to be more effective in the support of children with speech, language and communication needs. This core offer also includes the provision of a parent workshops."

This is a role with the Isle of Wight School’s Speech and Language Support Service, working with senior therapists, specialist teacher advisors, speech and language therapists and assistants within Island schools and settings to meet the SLCN (including severe and complex communication needs) of children and young people.

The post would suit an experienced speech and language with experience of working in special school settings.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to fulfil a role with many different elements to it, where no two days are ever the same. They will deliver assessment, and intervention, as well as oversee the work of others and be involved in the delivery of a comprehensive training package.

You will receive regular supervision and support from highly skilled, trained and experienced speech and language therapists and there will be regular opportunities for training and continuing professional development.
