The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.

Job Title – Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Base – Vale Community Hospital

Salary – £31,365-£37,890

Hours per week – 37.5 hours per week

We are inviting applications from Speech and Language Therapists experienced in Stroke Rehabilitation with a passion for delivering the highest quality of specialist intervention to work in this centre of excellence. The Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Unit is based at the Vale Community Hospital in Dursley and offers residents of Gloucestershire a dedicated Therapy Led service.

Experience and skills in the assessment and management of swallowing disorders and a range of communicationimpairments following a Stroke are essential.

Adopting national best practice this unit ensures that people suffering from a stroke will benefit from an improved clinical pathway, maximising the health outcomes of those people who are likely to improve with in-patient specialist rehabilitation. There will be close collaborative working with colleagues in the Hyper Acute and Acute Stroke Units in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and in the Countywide Early Supported Discharge Team.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to work in this collaborative multi-disciplinary team who shares a philosophy of empowering patients to be more independent and active in their recovery. You will be committed to developing your own expertise but also support other colleagues to continually develop and grow their own skills.

There is a well-established governance structure within the Therapy professions across the organisation that the new post holders will be integrated into. Audit will be an integral element of the service.
