Preschool Special Needs - Specialist Speech and Language

Who we are
At HRCH, we only want to provide the type of outstanding care that we would recommend to our family and friends.

We provide community healthcare and urgent treatment services for over 515,000 people living across the London boroughs of Hounslow and Richmond-Upon-Thames.

In the latest NHS Staff Survey results for community trusts, we had the highest percentage of staff in the country who felt their role made a difference to patients. We also had top scores for satisfaction with the quality of care staff can deliver.

In 2018 we were named ‘Best Place to Work for Employee Satisfaction’ by the Nursing Times and won the HSJ Workforce Award.

Our job is all about people and we believe that staff who feel valued and supported deliver better outcomes for our patients, so we invest in our people and their ideas.

With some of the best career development, staff wellbeing and flexible working opportunities around, you will be well looked after so that you can make a positive difference to the lives of people in our community.

The Hounslow Speech and Language Therapy Team are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative therapist to join as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) for the Preschool Special Needs Team.

The role includes assessment, diagnosis and management of children with complex speech, language and communication needs. It also includes working closely with families, peers and professionals across the health and education settings (in both uni and multidisciplinary teams). Post graduate training in Dysphagia is desirable.

Alongside the lead SLTs you will deliver therapy, train others and help to shape a developing service while enhancing your own clinical skills. You will contribute to service specific projects and have the opportunity to follow through your own ideas with the support of the Specialist Band 7s and lead SLT.

You will become part of a developing service that provides high quality speech and language therapy for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs as well as eating and drinking difficulties.

We are an experienced and friendly team that offer:

Opportunities to develop an area of clinical specialism through attendance at CENs, clinical lead roles and internal supervision structures (and if appropriate external training).
Peer support
A comprehensive supervision and appraisal structure
A team of highly skilled and genuinely supportive colleagues
A professional development infrastructure including Student Placement Co-ordinators, Volunteer Placement Co-ordinators, a RCSLT Research Champion, regular whole team meetings and a developing Whole Team Training Plan
We encourage Band 5 SLTs who have demonstrated initiative, developed their project skills and are able to evidence that they are ready to take the next step in their career to apply.
