Stony Dean is an Outstanding Special School for boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. Pupils present with language, communication and interaction needs associated with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and some Sensory Impairment, i.e. hearing and visual.

We currently have 190 pupils on roll, who all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and receive teaching and specialist support in small groups.

Stony Dean provides a “language-rich” environment where therapeutic strategies supporting a wide range of Speech, Language and Communication difficulties are incorporated into a fully integrated specialist teaching approach.

We are currently looking to expand our specialist team to recruit a creative and dynamic newly qualified speech and language therapist with a passion for learning. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a supportive, well-established speech and language team, working collaboratively with the school teachers and learning support staff to promote student independence, well-being and communication across the curriculum.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with interest/experience in working with:
• Language Disorder
• Autistic Spectrum Condition
• Functional Communication using AAC systems
• Social Communication and Pragmatic Disorder

We offer our Speech and Language Therapists:

• Working alongside the SALT team to implement a “specialist teaching skills” staff CPD training programme.
• Small group and in class work opportunities to deliver specific and targeted social skills groups.
• A dynamic caseload with the opportunity to deliver therapy and see outcomes achieved.
• Opportunities for continuing and relevant professional development.
• NQT package including regular clinical supervision and support to complete your competencies.

Essential for this role will be:
• A recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree/qualification
• Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) license to practise
• Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
