Royal School for the Deaf Derby is a unique provider of day and residential placements for deaf children and young people. We are committed to placing the experiences and progress of each learner at the heart of our everyday practice.

We are looking for one full time or two part time specialist speech and language therapists to assess, diagnose, design and deliver individualised programmes of therapy to maximise every child’s potential to communicate. You will be working in collaboration with families and agencies and supported by a team of in house experts all working together to exploit opportunities for every child to make the best progress they can socially, emotionally and educationally.

The majority of sessions will be based in our Primary department. In addition we are looking to add capacity for Secondary and Post 16 learners which may equate to the appointment of more than one full time role during term time. Therapists looking for annualised hours or flexible working for example, project work equating to a fixed number of sessions per academic year are also invited to apply.

The role provides ideal opportunities for continuing professional development working within the specialism of deafness including supporting children with complex communication needs. The successful applicant will also be able to join in house accredited British Sign Language courses up to and including Level 6.
