Reports to: Head of Therapy
Responsible for: Therapy Assistant (line management responsibility dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 34.75 hours per week - Jigsaw School Term Times (over 3 terms)
Annual Leave: 44 days paid holiday plus bank holidays

Job Overview
Based in the Jigsaw CABAS® School, you will work closely with other therapists and teachers to provide specialist, direct and indirect therapy for pupils with autism and related disabilities. Your work will include addressing receptive and expressive language difficulties, attention and listening difficulties, difficulties with social interaction and communication and functional life skills. Alongside this you will give input and advice to the JigsawPlus specialist day services for adults with autism and related disabilities.

Main duties and responsibilities
• Assessing, planning and implementing appropriate speech and language interventions for pupils, individually or in small groups, with a wide range of needs including receptive and expressive language difficulties, including AAC for non-verbal pupils
• Integrating therapy targets into the classrooms including implementing and overseeing teachers running therapy programmes
• Assessing and evaluating therapy outcomes and reporting findings
• Writing reports to contribute to the Annual Review and attend meetings as required
• Demonstrating clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures
• Develop close links with the whole therapy team, to work as a team and to deliver some joint therapy sessions in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) needs of pupils
• Be responsible for meeting the Speech and Language Therapy needs for individual pupils based on clinical needs and their EHCP provision
• Write reports to contribute towards Annual Reviews and EHCP
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate case notes in line with professional standards and school policies
• Adhere to local and national standards and guidelines relating to professional practice (RCSLT) and maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
• To attend regular therapy and whole school meetings and to liaise with class supervisors and teachers regularly to discuss individual pupils
• Actively engage in continuing professional development related to autism and other associated needs of the pupils including the attendance at relevant SIGs/CENs
• Plan and implement appropriate therapy interventions, working collaboratively with parents and staff
• Write and deliver relevant in-service training to staff and parents
• To develop an understanding of behaviour analysis
• Undertake any other tasks which can be reasonably expected in relation to the role
• Promote and ensure the good reputation of Jigsaw Trust and adhere to all company policies and procedures

Person Specification
Knowledge, skills and experience
• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree/qualification
• Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) license to practice
• Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
• Interest in special educational needs and austim spectrum disorder
• Clinical experience and working knowledge of pediatrics
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Experience in writing reports to contribute towards Annual Reviews and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)
