External Quality Assurer (EQA)

Subject area: Speech and Language Support for Children qualifications. These include Communication Support for Children with Severe and Complex Needs/for Pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and also Creating Communication-Friendly Settings.

Hours: Variable hours depending on the needs of the business
Location: South of England (south east/London/south west)
Salary: £32 an hour (full details surrounding rate of pay will be given to successful candidates)

Ascentis are looking for enthusiastic dedicated professionals to join their External Quality Assurance (EQA) team. Working as an EQA, you will play a key role in the quality assurance of Ascentis’ qualifications that are being delivered in our Centres in the subject specialist area of Speech and Language Support for Children qualifications, also to include verification of generic low level qualifications – situated for verification work in the South.

Job Description
  • To work too and support the Ascentis model of external quality assurance in relation to those qualifications within centres identified within the annual allocation
  • To visit centres to monitor and report on compliance with the required standards of resource, staff and systems required to support the assessment and award of qualifications
  • To plan and deliver centre training within own subject area, as required
  • To actively participate in required Ascentis training and standardisation activities, including central events and accompanied visits
  • To provide ongoing support, advice and guidance to all allocated centres
  • To keep up to date with developments within relevant subject / sector area
Key Skills required for this role
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent
  • Qualified and experienced in teaching subject area at L3 or above
  • Demonstrable experience in adult, further or higher education
  • Demonstrable knowledge of curriculum content
  • Experience of the internal and external quality assurance process for relevant subject area
  • Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • A customer focused approach
