£45,568 - £51,995 per annum (inclusive of fringe London weighting allowance) dependent upon experience and subject to pay review in September 2019

An exciting opportunity to join the leadership team of an outstanding school and make a difference for children with complex language disorder.

I CAN’s Meath school is an outstanding specialist school committed to the highest quality integrated education, therapy and care. It is a non-maintained day and residential school for pupils aged between 5 – 11 years, who have severe and complex language disorder, with associated difficulties including high functioning autism, learning and/or behavioural difficulties. Working as part of a strong multi-disciplinary collaboration of teachers, therapists, learning support assistants and care officers we create challenging, supportive learning environments, where all pupils are enabled to make excellent progress, are valued and achievement is celebrated.

We are looking for a dynamic Head of Therapies, an experienced leader, who will:

• lead and manage the speech and language, and occupational therapy departments within the school.
• work as part of the Senior Leadership Group to identify and drive strategic development in the therapy department and the school.
• be jointly responsible for the leadership and management of external and internal training.
• liaise with Meath’s specialist assessment service.
• Promote the wellbeing of the staff as well as the pupils, and be effective in safeguarding duties.

You will have at least 5 years practice as a paediatric speech and language therapist, extensive experience of working in an educational setting and an understanding of the current context for children with SLCN. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will have a proven track record of successful leadership, experienced in building teams and in driving forward service developments. e. You will be experienced in working with pupils with severe and complex SLCN including Developmental Language Disorder. You will have knowledge of signing and AAC, and an understanding of Occupational Therapy with a motivation to learn more about this department.
