Our school-based SLT service is expanding! We are innovative, supportive, and outcome-focused, and have posts for Specialist Speech and Language Therapists working in mainstream schools, special schools and specialist centres in Surrey (NHS Band 6 equivalent).

£34,688 per annum for 36 hours per week, across 42 weeks of the year. The role is term time, plus an additional 15 days per year. You will have a Surrey base and work in schools. This position is based inside one of our main area offices, click HERE to see a 360 degree view of the building and surrounding area along with a view of the reception.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.

About the role
This is a great opportunity to work across our schools teams. These are mixed posts either in a specialist centre attached to a school, or in a special school, as well as holding a mainstream caseload. In the special schools you would be working in a multidisciplinary team alongside occupational therapists and physiotherapists, and joining the existing SLT team.

In the centres, you would support the students and school staff, collaborating with existing SLT and SLTAs who work there. In addition to working in the centre, you would also have allocated time to work with students in the mainstream part of the school and other local mainstream schools.

We have vacancies across Surrey and further details of these can be found by clicking apply.

This full time role would be working in a special school for children with Learning and Additional Needs, a secondary language centre in a mainstream school, and in mainstream.

Your main duties in the role of a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will include but not be limited to:
•Clinical decision making in conjunction with school staff and families around the level of support needed to achieve the best possible outcome for the children on your defined caseload.
•Providing support, training and shadowing opportunities to more junior colleagues, and formally line managing a junior member of the team.
•Working with speech and language therapy assistants, setting targets for the children and young people they are supporting, and monitoring of the delivery and outcomes of their work.
