Stony Dean is a Local Authority maintained school for 185 pupils aged 11-19 years with a wide range of complex Communication and Interaction needs.

Due to expansion through a number of new projects, we are looking for an innovative and creative Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of our close-knit multidisciplinary Communication and Interaction team who lead on

•Development of the fully integrated specialist teaching approach
•Joint planning and delivery of specialist interventions/strategies
•A “specialist teaching skills” staff CPD training programme
•A new service to the 19-25 years age group through the supported traineeship programme

This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in collaborative practice with educational colleagues and/or our job coach and local employers. The role offers opportunity for clinical, team and/or service lead development.

You will want to work with, or have experience in, the fields of Developmental Language Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Condition, and will be passionate about developing Functional Communication and Self-Advocacy skills in the context of school and the workplace to enable our young people to lead as independent lives as possible.

A Car driver is essential for this role.

You will be an excellent communicator, a strong team member with the experience and commitment to work on your own initiative, and possess an empathetic and positive manner with young people with a wide range of complex communication and interaction needs. Opportunities for continuing professional development are offered, and clinical supervision is provided both from colleagues within the Speech and Language Therapy team and the Head of Therapy.
