Speech and Language Therapist Required for Independent Specialist Further Education College

Salary: £29,081 to £33,433 FTE Depending on experience

Permanent: Full time/Part time: Term Time only

Nash College is a long established Specialist College for people with disabilities aged 19 to 25 years. The college is based in Hayes, Bromley and caters for a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including physical communication and sensory disabilities, medical conditions and or Autism in addition to learning disabilities, from mild to profound.

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience of using a range of interventions and strategies to support complex Communication for young adults with learning disabilities and profound and multiple learning disabilities as well as Autism. Formal training or relevant experience of using Augmentative Alternative communication (AAC) methods, switches, eye gaze, Makaton signing and or Sign-along, is essential. Knowledge of dysphagia assessment and treatment and sensory integration approaches is desirable.

In addition we are looking for:
•RCSLT recognised degree/diploma and a registered member of RCSLT
•Membership of the Health Professions Council (HCPC)
•Experience of working in an education setting with Learning disabilities is desirable but not essential

The therapist will be joining an expanding multidisciplinary Team comprising of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Speech Therapy and Nursing disciplines. We will expect that candidates have a commitment to multidisciplinary working, which may include delivering joint training and assessment and treatment programmes.
