Hours: Full Time

Contract Type: Permanent

Pay: Band 5-6 (Actual Salary £26,470 - £33136) you will not be expected to work school holidays but you will be paid all year round)

Salary point will depend on experience

Selly Oak Trust School is a large single site Special School educating around 380 young people aged 11-19 who need additional support to access their learning. The majority of our students are academically working within the levels expected at Primary School (5-11years). All our students hold EHCP’s. The majority of our students have a moderate learning difficulty, autism, we do work with a small proportion of young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. However, all our young people have social, communication difficulties that require specialist support from a trained Speech, Language and Communication Therapist at a variety of levels.

We are looking to appoint a Speech, Language and Communication Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team who can be intrinsically involved in delivering our vision to our students. We believe that our students need to learn the communication skills to enable them to thrive within the community once they leave school. We are looking for someone who is:
• Highly motivated to provide the best quality service for our students, and passionate and flexible in their delivery.
• Has an understanding of young people and how their learning needs impact their speech, language and communication.
• Is a RCSLT and HCPC registered Therapist
The successful candidate will be responsible for,
• Assessment and intervention planning
• Group and individual intervention as required
• Development and training for other professionals
• In class consultation and support
• Accurate report writing and record keeping

Additionally, there is opportunity to join Selly Oak Trust School’s Outreach Service, providing support to local mainstream schools.
