Speech and Language Therapist – Part Time £23,500 per annum – 28 hours per week – Driver Essential

We have an excellent opportunity for a Qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our passionate clinical team in Wyboston (Bedfordshire) with experience of supporting adults with Autism. As our Speech and Language Therapist you will be based in Wyboston and also offer support to our homes in the surrounding area including St Neots and along the A1 corridor to North London. As part of the role you will support staff to build effective communication with the people we support. You will provide Total Communication training and mentoring to our teams. You will also assess and develop individual communication strategies for the people we support which may include social stories. You will work as part of our small and dedicated therapeutic team.

You will:

Be skilled in using an inclusive communication approach
Independently manage a caseload including people with complex mental and physical health needsBe committed to a person- centred approach
Be committed to joint working with other multidisciplinary team members, family members and other agencies
Provide supervision to more junior staff and/or students
Have experience in the assessment and management of people with challenging needs
Contribute to the development of the service within the context of change in which we work
Be skilled in producing and delivering training to a range of stakeholders

Key work/Essentials:

Experience with LD and Autism , Challenging behaviour - varied levels of functionality
Previous experience in supporting people with challenging needs and LD is essential. Knowledge of the Transforming Care Agenda, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and experience in a range of communication assessments and interventions relevant to this client population is also essential.
There will be an expectation of you carrying a smaller caseload of other cases if the service requires.
The post will involve working closely with the MDT (in particular psychology and psychiatry colleagues) and other agencies such as commissioning, carer groups, service user groups, provider services and generic mainstream and mental health services.
