Start Date:

Job Ref:

We are seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who has experience of /or an interest in working with pupils with autism and complex learning difficulties. The school welcomes applications from newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists, and strongly believes that our school will provide a wealth of experience, training and support to provide a highly positive start to someone wanting a thriving career.

St George’s School offers a unique approach to education, therapy and intervention; therefore you should be highly motivated and have great interest in working as part of a wider team to provide blended therapy within an educational environment. This is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and to use therapeutic skills creatively to meet the special educational needs of pupils.

The Speech and Language Therapist will work with teachers and support staff to enhance the learning process, develop the communication skills of the children and support the delivery of our social thinking curriculum. You will provide assessment, individual and group therapy, on-going advice to staff, support the writing of IPPs, contribute to and attend annual reviews. You will be required to review education and health and care plans as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team so it is useful to have knowledge/experience of using these plans, carrying out assessments and devising direct and indirect personalised therapy programmes. You will be required to participate in training and feel confident to design and deliver training to key staff members regarding the role of SLT and planned interventions for the children.

You will work closely with our SENCOs but will be the sole Speech and Language Therapist at the school and will be expected to manage your caseload independently; however we fully support the need for clinical supervision and CPD opportunities.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and strongly motivated to join a multi-disciplinary team and who can demonstrate an innovative and flexible working style. We need someone who will be passionate about high quality education and support for children of all abilities. You must be professional, an excellent clinician and have good communication and IT skills.

The position is full time working Monday-Friday between the hours of 8.30am-4.30pm. The salary for the role is based on experience and qualifications.

St George’s School Edgbaston is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils attending the school. As the duties of these posts involve regular contact with children, any offer to the successful candidates will be conditional upon an Enhanced Disclosure being obtained via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
