The SALT is a key member of the team whose role is to support the Head Teacher in the school’s management and strategic planning and in the development and maintenance of LVS Oxford’s innovative approaches to the education of children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.

The SMT structure enables the widest delegation of responsibilities within an effective team, with day-to-day management shared on a duty manager basis to allow time for focused development work with staff and students.

The SALT needs to ensure that they are promoting best practice at all times through role modelling and exceptional training of the Centre staff.

A degree or diploma as recognised by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists is preferred, trainee applications are also welcome.

You’ll have:

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational skills in order to manage and prioritise a range of clinical and administrative tasks.
• The ability to demonstrate knowledge of current interventions for people with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.
• The ability to consider a range of factors when planning assessment of a person with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.
• The ability to interpret standardised assessment results and combine with informal assessment data to provide families and carers with a functional interpretation.
• To plan practical and relevant targets and interventions based on assessment findings.
• An understanding of the importance of outcome measurement tools.
• A willingness to undertake professional development activities in order to develop the communication and therapy service in line with strategy.
• The ability to demonstrate commitment to skill sharing and collaborative working in order to foster good multi-disciplinary working.
• Commitment and ability to abide by equal opportunities policy.
