The Disabilities Trust is a leading national charity, providing innovative care, rehabilitation and support solutions for people with profound physical impairments, acquired brain injury and learning disabilities as well as children and adults with autism.

The Disabilities Trust is recruiting for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for our acquired brain injury unit – Fen House.

Fen House is a residential neuro-rehabilitation service located in Ely that provides accommodation and innovative personal care for up to 25 adults with acquired brain injury. Fen House provides a high quality neurobehavioral assessment and rehabilitation service for people with cognitive, physical and / or emotional symptoms following an acquired brain injury and complex needs such as cognitive, physical and/or emotional symptoms, including physical and/or verbal aggression, impaired social functioning and dis-inhibited behaviour. It also provides a continuing rehabilitation service for those with longer term needs.

The Role:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, your responsibilities will be:

• Assess and differentially diagnose communication impairments resulting from TBI/stroke
• Create evidence – based treatment for this client group based on published evidence, relevant clinical experience and client preference
• Advise clinical team and support staff
• Supervise a Band 6 equivalent with excellent clinical knowledge of cognitive communication difficulties and aphasia

Essential Criteria:

All applicants must be HCPC Registered and hold a degree or diploma in Speech and Language Therapy. Dysphagia training is required.
