Closing Date: 29 January 2018

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two paediatric Speech and Language Therapists to join our multi-disciplinary therapy team inclusive of SLT, OT and PT.

Brainwave is a long-established national charity which helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence by aiming to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of educational and physical therapies. The children we work with have a range of conditions including autism, brain injuries such as cerebral palsy and genetic disorders such as Down’s syndrome. Our highly skilled team of therapists work from bespoke centres in Somerset, Cheshire and Essex, plus satellite clinics in London and Scotland, to unlock the potential of each child and provide each family with a tailor-made programme to continue at home.

It is essential for the successful candidates to be confident working autonomously to deliver assessment and intervention for children with Complex Communication Needs and Learning Disabilities. Experience working within an appropriate setting is essential (eg specialist support schools, early intervention, child development team). This role requires experience using a range of interventions and strategies to support complex communication needs, learning disabilities, and profound and multiple disabilities, including alternative means of communication. RCSLT and HCPC registration is essential.

The Speech and Language Therapists will be joining an expanding team with the current SLT, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, and Therapy Assistant to deliver joint assessments and treatment. The Brainwave model of service delivery is family focused with assessments taking place for one or two days. We also provide half day appointments and an outpatient service. Therapy and intervention programmes are devised, taught to the parents with resources and equipment provided.
