The Doncaster Deaf Trust is a charity that owns and runs a non-maintained Nursery, School, Communication Specialist College and Care Home providing education for children and young people with hearing loss, learning and communication difficulties.

The Trust has an excellent therapy department which consists of a registered Nurse, Audiologist, Speech & Language Therapists, an Occupational Therapist and a Counsellor.

A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Speech and Language Therapist to join our existing therapy team to cover Maternity Leave. This post will run until at least July 2022.

A suitably experienced candidate is therefore required to take responsibility for providing support to children and young people at our single site location school and college. The pupils and students who we work with have a variety of communication needs due to deafness/hearing impairment, autism and/or other learning difficulties

• The post holder will manage their own caseload. They will:

- Undertake a range of formal and informal assessments
- Plan, conduct and review 1:1 and group therapy sessions
- Work alongside other health care professionals and teaching staff to ensure communication needs are met and communication targets are embedded across day
- Contribute to annual review reports and Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs)

• Candidates must be registered or in the process of registering with the HCPC and RCSLT
• Experience of working in an educational setting is desirable
• Knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL) is desirable but not essential as ongoing support and training will be provided
