The service is looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to work alongside the CNWL Learning disability community health Team to assume the role as the speech and language therapist locally working within the Brent Learning disability community health Team .

The post is suitable for those who are either looking to continue to develop their skills by working within the community service or for an already experienced professional who would like the challenge of working in a different working environment.

The post holder will develop and provide a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapy service as an autonomous SLT working in the Learning Disability Services. The post holder will demonstrate efficacy of this service to stakeholders with appropriate liaison and relevant audit.

The post holder will be a member of the Brent Community Health Team for People with Learning Disabilities within the Learning Disabilities Service of Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. They will be responsible to the Service Manager and will have designated responsibility for the co-ordination and delivery of the SLT service .

The potential candidate will need to possess good communication skills both written and verbal and feel able to easily communicate with a range of stakeholders. Confidence in managing and maintaining credible and flexible working relationships with partnership providers and stakeholders is essential as well as the ability to demonstrate experience and understanding of the Learning disability Service.

Essential criteria

· education and qualification

· Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy 2. Registered with HCPC 3. Registered with RCSLT as a qualified practitioner

· Previous experience: Significant post qualification experience in working with adults with learning disabilities 2. Experience of carrying out highly specialist communication and swallowing assessments and intervention

· Skills in using a variety of communication interventions including high and low tech visual communication aids, Makaton signs, Intensive Interaction
