Are you looking for a change in career where you can use your extensive skills and experience to benefit an island community? Do you enjoy a varied day working both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team?

A permanent opportunity has arisen at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on the beautiful island of Guernsey for an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Speech and Language Therapist to provide a comprehensive and quality service for the Bailiwick of Guernsey. You will be responsible for managing your own clinical caseload of adults with speech, language, communication and/or swallowing difficulties in acute, rehabilitation, continuing care and community settings.

As the successful candidate, you will be expected to carry out a wide range of duties from diagnosis and assessment to providing therapy, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, service delivery development and clinical education and teaching as appropriate.

This role requires communication and liaison with other clinical departments, including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, the Medical Specialist Group (providers of contracted secondary healthcare within the Bailiwick), GPs and speech and language therapists, so highly developed communication and inter-personal skills will prove essential.

A relocation package is available, which includes removals, house-hunting and rental allowance for private accommodation. Guernsey is part of the southernmost group of islands that make up the British Isles. They sit in the Bay of St Malo, less than 30 miles from the French coast. The Channel Islands enjoy more sunshine hours each year than the UK and with its milder climate, islanders make the most of the outdoors and enjoy the beautiful beaches, cliff paths and island-hopping to its neighbouring islands.

The UK mainland is only 40 minutes away by plane and 2 hours away by ferry and France is only 20 minutes away by plane and less than 2 hours by ferry. For further information please contact Ginette Bader, Lead Speech & Language Therapist - Hospital Services, on 01481 725241 ext: 4188.
