QMU has recently been awarded a grant from the Nuffield Foundation to further research into the development of speech in children with Down’s syndrome (DS). The project entitled “Improving the speech communication abilities of children with Down’s syndrome: A new model of service delivery using electropalatography” will build on the results from our previous MRC-funded work. The aim is to transfer EPG intervention from the clinic at QMU to local schools by working with support for learning assistants to deliver intensive EPG therapy.

Speech and Language Therapist

Ideally you will have some knowledge of EPG and have some experience of working with children with learning disabilities. A part time Research Assistant will be employed from November to undertake the detailed instrumental data analysis.
